What we do

We investigate how exercise, training and environmental factors shape health at all ages. We look at the interplay between physical activity, climate and air quality as well as individual factors such as age, sex and gender.

We focus on modern strength and movement training: how they strengthen muscles, the nervous system, balance and safe gait, and how they can reduce discomfort and promote independence.

We are also investigating how physical activity supports prevention and therapy, for example in the case of cancer or chronic diseases. We are interested in which training stimuli are effective and useful - and how they are percieved.

We take into account that individuals with different gender identities have different prerequisites and needs - especially the interaction regarding age, physical activity, and climate change.

Our research combines measurement data, in-depth interviews and close cooperation with relevant stakeholders. This results in scientifically sound, practical solutions for a healthy, active and self-determined life.
