This year, the University of Basel was once again present at five regional markets in the canton of Basel-Landschaft with the "Uni am Markt" project to showcase current research projects. Under the motto "Creating knowledge to keep us healthy", research groups from the Department of Sport, Exercise and Health (DSBG) took part this time.
With our lifelike "Mansgoggel", we were able to vividly demonstrate the equipment we use for our research and the measurements we take with it at the university stand. Interested visitors received further information on ongoing studies via posters and flyers as well as in direct discussions with the researchers.
We also conducted a survey to gather initial opinions from market visitors on the topic of "environmental pollution and sport". Exciting discussions and questions resulted in a lively exchange with many interested parties.
In addition to environmental pollution, the topic of muscle loss in old age was also addressed. With the help of a hand strength measurement, visitors were able to measure their own muscle strength and obtain information about their current strength level.
All in all, it was a very successful event. We would like to thank the University of Basel - in particular Hans Syfrig Fongione from the Marketing & Event team - for the invitation and the opportunity to take part and present our research projects to a broad public in the Basel region.
